With its 10 km of lenght, the Campofelice di Roccella beach ranks among the longest and most beautiful beaches in Sicily.
Composed of fine golden sand, the beach extends from the territory of Capo Plaia, up to the mouth of the river Imera and has both extensive strips of free beach, which several areas reserved for bathing establishments. However, what really makes this beach unique, is the enchantment of the views it offers: thanks to its perfect orientation, the beach of Campofelice di Roccella is an ideal vantage point of flaming sunrises and breathtaking sunsets, with a sun that in summer sinks into the sea off the mountains of Palermo, touching Monte Pellegrino and giving a suggestive and enchanting view.
Moreover, from the beach of Campofelice it is possible to witness a quiet rare spectacle: the green ray. It is an optical phenomenon visible in summer evenings when, at sunset, the sun radiates a bright green beam that remains in the sky for a few seconds, enough time to distinguish it from the reddish light on which it stands out. Jules Verne, among others, was inspired by this phenomenon and named a novel after it.
